The 2020 dumpster fire was starting to stink, and my planned summer of photography workshops and wilderness trips in Alaska was bursting into flame. A lot of the last year really sucked. But, being the optimist I am, I started to look a bit further into the future. What did I want my workshop schedule to look like a couple of years down the road? What kind of opportunities are going to excite people, and excite me? Turns out that asking myself that question led me to some interesting answers. Three answers, actually. I've put together three new, and entirely novel photo workshops for 2022. I'm fired up about them, and I think you will be too.

Highlights of 2020

Product Review: SAAL Digital Books

I don't print as often as I'd like, or as often as I should. But when I do, it's always a bit of a thrill to see my images in a more tangible form than a digital screen. Seeing an entire gallery's worth of images printed in high quality and bound in a durable leather and acrylic cover, is even better.

Trip Report- Arctic Wild Noatak Canoe

When asked my favorite river to canoe in Alaska, my unhesitating response is the Noatak. The headwaters of the Noatak River gather water out of the western part of Gates of the Arctic National Park and then flow westward toward the Bering Sea.

Canoeing the Kokolik

My first wilderness trip of the summer guiding season for Arctic Wild was a river I'd paddled once previously. It's not a river that gets a lot of traffic, and yet it may be the finest canoe trip in the state. And I don't say that lightly; we have a lot of great canoe trips here in Alaska.
