Bears of Katmai TWO - 16-22 July, 2023

The salmon were late this year to Brooks Falls, which mean the second trip, this one, hit the arrival of Sockeye Salmon into the river. The bears were hungry, and a bit grumpy with one another. Bickering over, and trying to steal the fish being caught. It made for some great bear watching, and we had no shortage of bruins to watch during the first three days of the trip at Brooks.

During the second half of the journey, we headed to Homer, where Puffins and otters were abundant during our boat trip on Kachemak Bay, and we had a rare bluebird day for our flight over the coast of Lake Clark National Park to watch the coastal bears doing their thing. We had an incredible time on the coast, with numerous bears in great photo situations. I love that wild corner of Alaska!
