During the peak birding months of May to September, I work exclusively in Alaska. I base out of the interior city of Fairbanks, where many boreal target species frequently occur close to town. On day, and half-day trips around Fairbanks, I may be able to help you find species like Boreal, Great-Gray, and Northern Hawk Owl, Gray Jay, Boreal Chickadee, Rusty Blackbird, Solitary Sandpiper, Townsend’s Warbler, and others.
The mountains surrounding Fairbanks to the north and south are also home to species like Gyrfalcon, Northern Wheatear, Surfbird, Willow and Rock Ptarmigan, Smith’s Longspur, and Arctic Warbler.
Multi-day trips can carry us anywhere in the state, from the Arctic coastal plain (eiders, Yellow-billed Loon, nesting shorebirds) and on birding specific wilderness trips (Gray-headed Chickadee anyone?) you can experience some of the wildest birding destinations in the world.
Have a target species or destination? Coming to Fairbanks for a day or two, and want a guide? Just fill out the form below and let me know what you have in mind.
